As we get close to Memorial Day and remember those who gave their lifes I want to give  a shout out to all the US Military men and woman who serve our country.. THANK YOU we could never thank you enough for the sacrifices that you give for our country. You rock!  And because I think uniforms are so hot I will give you a man of the day pic 🙂

OK moving on…. go check out Kayte’s new giveaway! A road ID and calf compressions! I wanna win!

So this weekend on Memorial Day I am giving back to the running community by volunteering in our city’s 10k. It’s a popular race and I’d love to be running it but my husband is so I am going to help out. Jaylin is going to help me pass out food to the finishers. And hey I’ll still get a t-shirt so that rocks.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

{May 26, 2010}   Right up my Alley

So monday I was tagged by Katye to tell you 7 random things about myself as part of a thing called the Versatile Blogger. So since randomness is right up my alley I thought this would be perfect for today’s topic( that and I’m fresh out of ideas 😉

1. I unlike Katye am very opinionated. I try not to push what I want on others, but I always try to find a way to get my way. I can also be stubbon/opinionated to the point of being blunt/rude. I try not to do this- but my friends know what to expect, I will say what I think and probably not have a filter. ie. I do not get people who have lots of kids, 6-9 etc… I will flat out be in shock when somone tells me that have that many and probably say good god or why?!

2. In correlation to above post I am only going to have one child- Shocking I know. But I do not feel the need to explain to everyone and their mamma my reasons. My hair dresser, receptionist at Chiro and more do not need to know why I will only have one child. But if pushed I will give some sob story about cancer- usually shuts them up 😉

3. I am a independent/libertarian.. or otherwise a republican fed up with the republicans. But everyday I read CNN and MSNBC. I think if people only read FOX that they wouldn’t get the whole picture on what is going on.. I know the others are so left but sometimes fox is just so right… lol

4. I really want to go skydiving and go up in a hot air balloon.. also to ride a race car…. I guess I am a thrill seeker.

5. I am not a morning person, yet I get up to go to work at 5:20 everymorning. Sometimes I can even be found up at 4:40 to get a workout in before work. But don’t talk to me or I will bite your head off..

6. I do not eat red meat- some people believe this makes me unamerican.

7. I hate horror flicks- because I will more than likely have terrible dreams of being chased and killed. I like murder mysteries and action… but not bad scary movies..

That’s all folks! Till next time. Oh I am supposed to tag people to do it, so consider all my followers (all 5 😉 tagged!! and let me know so I can go see yours.

{May 25, 2010}   Junkie

I am normally a semi healthy eater. I can’t eat alot of bad foods due to my digestive system so I tend to stay away from fried and fatty foods. My weakness of course would be sweets. I’m not really on a diet I am just aware of what I eat and try not to over do bad foods. Well today I just threw that out of the water and it’s not even dinner yet. Our office is fundraising money for the Army Relief Campaign and they were having a food sale w/ chicfila chicken biscuts and baked goods. So I had to have one, along w/ two cookies for breakfast. and then I unfortunately did not bring lunch and now have had a red velvet cake for lunch- I will now try to avoid the leftover cheesecake that my husband made that is in the fridge!!!!! Good thing I made it to the gym and ran at lunch! 3 miles in 27:40 but what was even better was that the first two were in 17:20! I was booking it.

In shopping updates I have not gone to a store- but was reminded that it’s  Memorial Day Week- and there are SALES! 😦 This will not be easy. I did get a dress that I bought last week in the mail.. so it kinda felt like I bought something 😉  ” I am Stephanie and I am a shopahaulic”

I have a shopping problem. I am good about getting things on sale, but I don’t think I could go awhole week without buying some form of clothes/shoes/purse/or jewelry. I need to work on that! I am trying to pay off my loans and could probably have done so by now. So my goal is to not buy anything for the next TWO WEEKS! Maybe I should only give myself a week goal…..  See below recent sale/splurge purchase from Anthropologie:

In running news I finally got around to running more than 2 miles on the treadmill and did 4 on the greenway yesterday. I really needed to do 8 but it was just so hot and my husband came with me and he was done. My first 3 miles were great times though, 8:30, 8:50 and 9:25!  I am definately getting my speed up a bit. I will try to run 6ish tonight when it cools down.

So the cotton row is next week and I am not getting to run it 😦 My husband had signed up months ago and since we don’t really have anyone to watch Jaylin at 6:30am on memorial day I decided that me and Jaylin would volunteer to pass out food or water or something. Give back some. Should be fun except I will feel alittle sad when all my friends go running by.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

{May 18, 2010}   From Sea to Shining Sea

Sorry Guys! I haven’t been posting lately. Mother’s Day, Weddings, and the like have been keeping me busy. So busy in fact that I haven’t been getting any long runs in! 😦 boo. My Navy Nautical 10 miler is in 3 weeks so I need to step it up. I did 4 miles on the treadmill yesterday but did intervals and inclines and was SLOW. Jaylin will be going out of town w/ my parents this week so hopefully I will get more chances to get out there and RUN.

So I have a new goal. I want to run a 1/2 marathon in every state! I think it would be so cool to have metals from each state. So far I only have 2 from TN, and 1 in FL (I don’t even have my own state yet). I think if I can do 3 a year I would be done by the time I’m 40- which would be cool.  I’m thinking one plane trip a year and two drives, but eventually I would have to fly more.  I’m putting together a list of the ones I want to do in the states- help me out. What is your favorite races that you have run so far and when/where is it??? Also if I’m coming to your area you better run with me!!!

This year I’m thinking either the Dayton, OH Airforce Half Sept 18, or same day the Citizen-Times in Ashville, NC.

and then probably the Huntsville 1/2 in Nov. Gotta get Al.  After that who knows- mardi gras, LA  in Feb? or Little Rock, AK in March (Largest Metals)….

Anyways, thats that! Jaylin’s Dance recital is tonight so I will have to post pictures of my cutie pie.

{May 4, 2010}   Slacker!

Sorry guys, been slacking at my blog. This weekend I went to the Crawfish Boil in Birmingham, AL. It was lots of fun. Now I am not a huge fan of crawfish, I tend to like my food to not resemble the animal that it came from but I did try one and it wasn’t bad.. similar to shrimp. but there is no way in hell that I would have “sucked their heads” as I learned it may be common to do in the deep south.. sorry not that southern!!

The festival was 2 days and friday night’s line up was Fuel, Seether, Theory of a Deadman, Akon, and Alice in Chains.   My fav of the night was Seether, theory sucked, and Akon put on a good show.

Sat night was Train and Goo Goo Dolls! They both were awesome and I enjoyed it!!!

I will def go back next year if the line up is as good as it was!

So since I have been out of town and due to rain I ran 6 miles on the treadmill yesterday. I did it  in 57.25 which was decent for the treadmill. 4 more weeks till the 11.5 mile Navy race in TN. Can’t wait!
